chipotle vs. chick-fil-a

Chick-fil-a

Chick-fil-a claims to be healthier than most fast food places.  If you eat at chick-fil-a you should know the truth.  Thier classic chicken sandwich has over 100 ingredients in it, a majority of them have health consequences.  Many of the ingredients are food colorings, refined grains, MSG, and GMO corn.  There are a total of 18 chemical preservitaves in their sandwich.  The ingredient TBHQ which stands for "tertiary butylhydroquinone" is a chemical made from butane (toxic gas).  Eating only 1 gram of this toxic preservative can cause all sorts of issues like ADHD in children, allergies, asthma, and certain cancers.  The FDA limits the amount of TBHQ that can be added to foods, they did this same thing with trans fats.  If a products contains .5 grams of transfat or less it can be labeled transfat free.  If you are eating fast food you are consuming a large amount of presrvatives and chemicals.  The high amounts consumed of these chemicals are a big contributing factor to auto immune diseases and cancers in the US.

Here is a recipe for a healthier chick-fil-a sandwich you can make at home.  I haven't tried it yet, but it looks pretty good.  I will try to make this next week.

Sorry to ruin your day if you love chick-fil-a!

Chipotle

Chipotle now lists all of their ingredients on their website.  Chipotle still has some foods that contain preservatives, but nothing compared to chick-fil-a.  All of their meat and dairy is hormone and antibiotic free.  I would definitely splurge on a chipotle burrito or salad before chick-fil-a.  They do not add any aritifical colors or have any hidden MSG.

Ok so here is one option to order at chipotle:
-organic black beans
-lettuce
-organic fresh tomato salsa
-organic  guacamole
-sour cream/cheese
-vegetables
-pork carnitas (they don't add any GMO oil to thier pork)

When I go to chick-fil-a I usually have the vegetarian burrito.  I add their vegetables, brown rice, guacamole, salsa, and a tiny bit of cheese.

Here is a link to chipotles ingredients.
I love how they did their ingredients list.  It is really simple and easy to understand.  they put a G next to everything that has been genetically modified.  It makes it really easy to find safe options to order when you go there.  They even have options on their menu that is organic and local.

my favorite hummus recipe

my favorite hummus recipe

This recipe is soooo good.  It is my all time favorite.  I love making hummus because it is a lot cheaper and tastes a lot better than the hummus you buy at the store.  I have a hard time eating vegetables plan so I love making a thing of hummus at the beginning of each week to have with my vegetables.

Ingredients:
2 cups of garbanzo beans
1/3 cup organic tahini paste
8 TBSP  lemon juice (3 lemons)
paprika (for garnish)
2 garlic cloves
extra virgin olive oil (to add on top)
franks red hot sauce
salt

Directions:
add all of the ingredients except the olive oil, salt, paprika, and hot sauce to your food processor.
Next, add as much frank's red hot sauce as you like.  I add about 20 drops.  If you want it to be spicier add more.  Then mix for around a minute depending on how creamy you like your hummus.  I like mine extra creamy.  Then top with paprika for garnish and drizzle a tiny amount of extra virgin olive oil.  Add salt according to how much you like.

add all of the ingredients except the olive oil, salt, paprika, and red hot sauce.  Mix in a food processor until creamy.  I like my hummus extra creamy so I process it for about a minute.

Next add frank's red hot original sauce.  I add about 20 drops.  If you want it to be spicier add more.  I add more or less depending on what kind of hummus I'm craving.

Top with paprika and drizzle with a small amount of extra virgin olive oil.

It will last in the fridge for 5 days.

Enjoy!

Lumin Minerals Etsy shop!

I have been working really hard the last couple weeks on making a lot of different eyeshadows, lip gloss, and foundations.  My etsy store currently has 13 different colors of eyeshadows and one concealer.   I am going to be continually adding more items to my shop.  If you don't want to pay shipping you can email me and pick it up locally if you are in the Mesa/Gilbert AZ area.

There are a couple reasons why I started making my own makeup.  First of all, buying bare minerals makeup is too expensive for me.  I did a lot of research and came up with my own recipes similar to a lot of mineral companies out there to sell for a fraction of the price.  Another reason was because I like wearing makeup that doesn't cause harm to your skin.   My makeup is all natural, homemade, and does not contain any harsh chemicals or ingredients.  All of my ingredients I use are listed on my etsy shop.  I have noticed since I started wearing only mineral makeup that my skin has been so much better and my acne has pretty much disapeared.  I used to wear a pretty thick foundation, but after researching a lot of different oil cleanses for my skin and recipes I decided that mineral makeup would be the best option for me.

Some of my favorite colors I made are amber glaze, shimmery gold, and maroon matte.

If you would like to try some free samples please feel free to email me and I will send you some to try!
