Per Emergen-C's FAQ's page, they do not use MSG or GMO's, I certainly hope they're not blatantly lying to their customers...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.emergenc.com/index.php/misc/faq
This is not true. This statement is taken straight from their website: "We have chosen to source materials that are non-GMO whenever possible. That being said, we cannot guarantee that all of our raw materials are sourced from non-GMO ingredients and do not currently have this requirement in place for our vendors."
DeleteDude are you kidding me? I started having an asthmatic attack...which I rarely get as I watch what I eat...but I had some packet of this stuff left over and thought I'd just "finish it off" before I purchased another product. Have you even looked at the list of ingredients in this (and I'll put it as nicely as I can) CRAP!?! Apparently NOT!
DeleteIngredients: Fructose, CITRIC ACID, TAPIOCA MALTODEXTRIN, "NATURAL FLAVORS"...whoa..what the heck does THAT mean??, MALIC ACID, SILICA, GLYCERINE???, ASPARTIC ACID, TARTIC ACID, and CYSTEINEHYDROCHLORIDE!!!! The reason most of use tak Vitamin C is for it's anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects on the body...this is NOT what your getting with this stuff! It pushed me into an INFLAMMATORY/ALLERGIC STATE! And I am pissed! Throw this crap away in the garbage...this company is only out to get you hooked on their product and has no applied knowledge as to the good or bad of what they are providing...IT IS A JUNK FOOD OF VITAMINS! A complete farce!
Emergen C has Aspartame (aspartic acid) in it and Aspartame has many BAD side effects.....read about it. And I LOVED Emergen C.....I was even getting my grandkids to drink it.....not anymore :(
ReplyDeleteAspartame is not the same as aspartic acid. Aspartic acid is an amino acid produced by the body during peptide synthesis. I do not drink aspartame but I take emergen c every morning
DeleteYou might want to reconsider your daily intake of this junk food of the vitamin world...look up the ingredients and google them...NOT GOOD!!
Delete.PRO-INFLAMMATORY
lifenotlabs.com offers a completely natural vitamin source alternative. For example C comes from Acerola and Iodine comes from Kelp. Tastes great!
ReplyDeletefirst 3 ingredients? Processed sugar!!! That's all it is!
ReplyDeleteDirect from their web site:

Due, 8 months ago, to a newly found severe reaction to nonsoluble gum notably carrageenan/ xanthum gums/possibly guar, acacia , chicory...am trying to eat without those in a process of elimination, slow due to severity of reaction to an unknown....I often encounter an unlabeled additive but only a spoonful at a time for reaction check, it takes so little...the labels do not show gums if less than 2% thanks to FDA "exception" for additives...I called the Mfg of EmergenC and after about 20 minutes of deflection regarding labeling, the service lady went to ask at the chem lab....came back to tell me gum additive was ingredient in all flavors but Tangerine...that flavor has not resulted in rapid heart rate, my most unpleasant symptom....nor any lesser others of a typical Vagal (nerve) response....but many gluten free products do have these gums added, most not stated...IBS symptoms are not necessarily due to gluten allergy!!! ...may I suggest my daughter's recommendation of rice milk eggs starch veggies, some fruits but I stick to baby food peaches/ apricots and ground meat too for convenience...boiled or steamed meat,no gluten , caffeine, and NO carrageenan, xanthum gum, locust/acacia gum, guar gum, modified food starch unless identified as corn...note: the mfg will use chemisty names for their lab creations so they are not recognized...but the insolubles originated with ground pine trees and giant kelp...microscopic needles that slip between the gut villi to harm the base tissue... like sewing needles can drop into a shag rug....if this diet I began post my ER-visit had not within 2 days ceased my multi toilet visits and the "panic atacks" I would never have even bothered with this endless game of trying to find something in the grocery and no eating out...home cook with natural meats and vegs...etc etc...but so good to feel free, day after day, of those so called panic attacks...after increasing often daily attacks for several years....the doctors discount it, just want to prescribe pills for heart or "anxiety"....guess what? The druggist told me Rx pills are all containing these gums to fill and stabilize the med in pill form....So I take no meds beyond minimum vitamins/minerals...occ child aspirin, honey for cough!!! Back to the Dark Ages....hope this helps...am RN retired and would have scoffed if I had read my info here just 10 years ago and called me a hypochondriac....

When I started drinking Emergen C I was really impressed with the energy results. But no matter how much better foods I'd choose to eat my blood pressure went up. Even though I exercised, I still gained weight. The other day I looked at the ingredients. Fructose was the 1st word on the list. Fructose is one of the worst ingredients for those who are struggling with obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, or simple weight loss. Let's face it, we buy over the counter and off the shelf pills & packets because their conveniences. Nothing wrong that. But we're not trying to buy our own early grave. I now have to throw away money because i can no longer use their product. Very disappointed 😞.
ReplyDeleteDone with Emergen-C due to the sugar content. Duped by Pfizer, giant Pharma who owns Alacer. Thanks for offering alternatives!
